SanDisk 512GB microSD Express for Nintendo Switch 2 on Amazon

By SophiaDec 27,2025

If you own a Nintendo Switch 2, you're probably considering a microSD Express Card. The system's faster internal storage means standard microSD cards from the original Switch won't work, so upgrading is essential for extra space. Although not on sale just yet, SanDisk has opened pre-orders for its 512GB microSD Express Card during Amazon Prime Day. If you haven't gotten one, now's your chance to secure one before they sell out.

If you've been trying to get a microSD Express Card, you've likely noticed how quickly they disappear. Luxar has been the most popular brand, and every time Amazon restocks, they're gone in minutes. I strongly advise placing a pre-order for this SanDisk model—there's no telling when another 512GB card will be available.

While microSD Express Card prices are expected to fall over time, I don't recommend waiting unless you absolutely have to. The Nintendo Switch 2 comes with only 256GB of built-in storage. While that might be enough for first-party Nintendo titles, third-party games will eat up space fast. We've already seen titles like Split Fiction exceeding 80GB in size.

I have mixed feelings about Game-Key Cards, but one undeniable downside is that you still need free console storage to play "physical" games. If you plan to keep more than four or five major third-party titles installed digitally, a microSD Express Card is a must.
