Sadie Sink Joins Spider-Man 4 Cast with Tom Holland

By SebastianMar 28,2025

Sadie Sink, known for her role as Max Mayfield in Stranger Things, is set to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in Spider-Man 4, alongside Tom Holland. The film, which is slated to begin production later this year, will hit theaters on July 31, 2026. Although Marvel and Sony have not officially confirmed this news, Deadline reports that Sink will play a significant role in the upcoming movie.

Speculation is rife about the character Sink might portray. She could potentially take on the role of Jean Grey from the X-Men or another iconic redheaded character such as Mary Jane Watson. However, integrating Mary Jane into the storyline could pose challenges given Peter Parker's current relationship with Michelle "MJ" Jones-Watson, portrayed by Zendaya in previous Spider-Man films. The narrative might see a significant shift following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, where Peter reintroduces himself to MJ after Doctor Strange wipes his identity from everyone's memory.

Tom Holland, currently engaged in filming Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, is expected to transition to Spider-Man 4 upon completion of that project.

Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has hinted at the integration of X-Men characters into the MCU's future. Speaking at the Disney APAC Content Showcase in Singapore, Feige mentioned that fans would encounter "some X-Men players" in upcoming films, though he did not specify which characters or movies. He emphasized that the narrative arc leading to Secret Wars would usher in a new era of mutants and X-Men in the MCU.

The next few MCU movies potentially featuring mutants include Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, and The Fantastic Four: First Steps in July 2025. More mutant appearances are expected in Phase 6 films such as Avengers: Doomsday, Spider-Man 4, and Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027. There is also speculation about the return of characters like Deadpool and Wolverine, and whether Channing Tatum might reprise his role as Gambit.

Feige has confirmed that the X-Men will play a significant role in the MCU post-Secret Wars. He explained that while preparing for Avengers: Endgame, the focus was on reaching a grand finale, but now the path to Secret Wars is clear and includes the X-Men. Phase 7 of the MCU is expected to be dominated by these characters, with Storm already making her debut in What If...? Season 3.

In October, Marvel added three untitled movie projects to its 2028 release schedule: February 18, 2028; May 5, 2028; and November 10, 2028. It is increasingly likely that one of these films will focus on the X-Men.
