Ryan Reynolds Eyes Early Development of Deadpool and X-Men Film

By EmmaMay 22,2025

Ryan Reynolds is reportedly in the "early stages" of developing a new film that would bring together Deadpool and several X-Men characters. According to THR, Reynolds envisions this as an ensemble movie where Deadpool shares the spotlight, rather than being the central figure. The focus would be on three to four X-Men members who would take center stage and be utilized in "unexpected ways."

This project is distinct from the X-Men movie being developed by Hunger Games writer Michael Lesslie. Reynolds, known for meticulously crafting his ideas before presenting them to Marvel, has previously taken a similar approach with the film Deadpool & Wolverine, which initially started as a concept for a low-budget road trip movie.

While the specific X-Men characters to join Deadpool in this new venture remain undisclosed, Deadpool has a history of collaborating with various X-Men members and their adversaries in past films. Notable characters include Wolverine, Colossus, Sabertooth, Pyro, and even Channing Tatum's portrayal of Gambit.

This isn't the first time Reynolds has been linked to an ensemble project featuring Deadpool, but the latest reports provide more insight into the potential direction of the Merc With a Mouth's future adventures.
