Screenshot by The EscapistBefore you begin, accept the fishing quest from Simon the Fisherman (the white-haired NPC near the Barracuda's swimming area). He requests 5 "fish" in exchange for a Tackle Box. (We'll explain the quotes later.)
To fish, you'll need a fishing rod and bait. Conveniently, Simon sells both.

A worm is automatically consumed with each catch. It appears you need at least 5 worms to successfully catch anything. Placing worms in your hotbar aids inventory management.
How to Fish: A Step-by-Step Guide
Gif by The Escapist1. Select your Wood Fishing Rod (placing it in your hotbar is sufficient).
2. Hold M1 to cast your line into the water (near Simon's pier works well).
3. Watch the bobber. When it ripples (once or twice), click M1 again to reel in your catch.
Important Note: Success isn't guaranteed. You might catch nothing, or you might catch junk. However, Simon counts junk as a successful catch (hence the "fish" quotes).
Repeat steps 2 and 3 until you've caught 5 items.
