If you're a fan of both LEGO and Star Wars, you'll be thrilled to know that Amazon still has some retired LEGO sets in stock, including the incredibly detailed, to-scale R2-D2 set that was retired in January 2025. Right now, you can snag this gem for $221.27, which is an 8% discount off its original price. The partnership between Star Wars and LEGO, which began in 1999, has given us everything from simple playsets for kids to sophisticated display models for collectors. The R2-D2 set falls into the latter category, making it a must-have for any serious Star Wars aficionado due to its intricate details and impressive size.
Although this R2-D2 set saw a discount during Star Wars Day, it's unlikely to remain below its Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) for much longer. So, if you're considering adding it to your collection, now might be the perfect time.
Retired LEGO R2-D2 Is Still Available at Amazon
-----------------------------------------------LEGO R2-D2
Originally priced at $239.99, you can now purchase this 2,315-piece marvel for $221.27 at Amazon. This set represents the most detailed version of R2-D2 that LEGO has ever produced. IGN had the pleasure of assembling this set upon its release and found the experience incredibly rewarding. At over a foot tall, this R2-D2 model is fully posable, featuring every iconic detail from the movies. The third leg is retractable, the front hatches open and close, and the periscope extends from R2's head. LEGO's attention to detail is evident in the accurate colors, wires, tubes, and lights that make this set a true replica. If you manage to get your hands on one before they're gone, it will complement some of the best LEGO Star Wars sets to build in 2025 beautifully.
R2-D2's most recent appearance was in 2021 during "The Book of Boba Fett," specifically in episode 6, "From the Desert Comes a Stranger." This episode is notable for the return of a CGI de-aged Luke Skywalker, the first and last live-action appearance of bounty hunter Cad Bane, and, of course, our beloved R2-D2. IGN rated this episode a seven, noting that it focused more on "The Mandalorian" and nostalgic Star Wars elements than on its protagonist.
