*R.E.P.O.*, the co-op horror game that launched in February, has captured the attention of over 200,000 PC players. However, fans eager to experience this thrilling game on consoles might be disappointed. As of now, *R.E.P.O.* is exclusively available on PC, and there are no plans announced for a console release.
The game's developer, semiwork, is currently focused on refining the multiplayer experience on PC. They are grappling with significant challenges, particularly in enhancing the game's multiplayer mechanics while preventing it from becoming a breeding ground for cheats. "The main issue with matchmaking lobbies is hackers. But the issue with an anti-cheat system is that you’re ruining the experience for everyone who has made mods, because mods don’t work with an anti-cheat system. And we don’t want that," the developer explained to PCGamer. This issue needs to be resolved before any consideration of a console port can be entertained.
While other PC-exclusive games like *Mouthwashing* have successfully transitioned to consoles, it's worth noting that *Mouthwashing* is a single-player game, which simplifies the porting process. Similarly, games like *Lethal Company* and *Content Warning*, which share a similar premise of evading monsters, have also remained PC-only. Last year, the developers of *Content Warning* mentioned they were considering a console release, but technical difficulties halted progress, and no further updates have been provided since.
In summary, *R.E.P.O.*'s developer has not shown any interest in bringing the game to consoles and is instead concentrating on improving the multiplayer aspects of the PC version. For now, console gamers will have to wait and see if the situation changes in the future.
