Gameplay Trailer Showcases Boss Battles and 4-Player Co-op
The trailer highlights Ratatan's unique blend of rhythm game mechanics and side-scrolling action, culminating in an epic battle against a colossal crab boss. A key feature showcased is the game's online co-op mode, allowing up to four players to engage in massive, 100-character battles. The game's development team, Ratatan Works, boasts the talents of Patapon creator Hiroyuki Kotani and original Patapon composer Kemmei Adachi, promising a familiar yet fresh experience.
Closed Beta Test Commences February 27, 2025
A closed beta test is scheduled to begin on February 27, 2025. Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared exciting news, including the game exceeding 100,000 Steam wishlists and receiving positive feedback on the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. While the game won't feature in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the team is prioritizing the closed beta and preparing an improved demo for the June Steam Next Fest.
The closed beta will initially feature the first stage, with stages two and three added during the month-long testing period. Beta key distribution details will be announced via Discord and X (formerly Twitter).
Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. A precise release date remains unannounced.
