Ubisoft's Rainbow Six Siege X: A Major Update, Not a New Game
Ubisoft recently unveiled Rainbow Six Siege X, not as a new game, but as a significant upgrade to the existing Rainbow Six Siege. This announcement, made on February 17, 2025, precedes the game's 10th anniversary. Details are slated for a major showcase.
March 2025 Showcase
The Rainbow Six Siege X showcase is scheduled for March 13, 2025, at 10:00 am PDT / 1:00 pm EDT in Atlanta, Georgia. This event promises a deep dive into the substantial gameplay changes, described as "new ways to play, deepened tactical gameplay, refined game feel, and major upgrades." In-person attendance requires a $10 ticket (including a shirt and in-game cosmetic pack) and meeting specific eligibility criteria:
- Legal resident of the USA or Canada
- 18 years or older
- A good standing Rainbow Six Siege account (no bans or sanctions)
A VIP package giveaway, including travel and accommodation, is also available for two lucky US and Canadian residents.
10th Anniversary & Season 1: Operation Prep Phase
Rainbow Six Siege, initially released December 1, 2015, for PS4, Xbox One, and PC (later ported to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S), celebrates its 10th anniversary. Season 1, "Operation Prep Phase," launching March 4, 2025, introduces:
- A new operator, Aurora, with deployable bulletproof doors.
- A new elite skin for operator Aruni.
- A revised reputation system.
Given the timing of Season 10 and the Siege X showcase, the major Siege X upgrades will likely be implemented on live servers at a later date. The March showcase promises to reveal further details.
