The iconic creature returns in the thrilling teaser trailer for the much-anticipated sci-fi action sequel, Predator: Badlands. This sneak peek, now circulating online, introduces us to the film's star, Elle Fanning, portraying a resident of a perilous future on a remote planet. What sets this installment apart is the unique twist on the classic Predator narrative: this time, the alien hunter may not be the antagonist but rather the protagonist. The teaser tantalizingly hints, "The director of Prey welcomes you to a world of pain," setting the stage for a gripping adventure.
Beyond the intriguing new portrayal of the Predator, the trailer also teases connections to the Alien universe, sparking speculation about a potential setup for a new Aliens vs Predator film. Fans have noticed Elle Fanning's eyes mimicking the Weyland Yutani reboot effect seen in Alien: Romulus, suggesting her character might be a synthetic. Additionally, a glimpse of the Weyland Yutani logo—the notorious megacorporation central to the Alien franchise—appears on a damaged vehicle, further fueling crossover theories.

That's the Weyland Yutani logo reflected in Elle Fanning's eyes. Could she be a synth? Predator: Badlands was first announced in February 2024, with its release date later confirmed for November 7, 2025. The trailer made its exclusive debut at CinemaCon earlier this month, and this marks the first time fans have been able to get a glimpse of what's in store.
20th Century Studios also unveiled an official synopsis at CinemaCon: "In the future on a remote planet, a young Predator, outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary."
Elle Fanning shared some exciting insights at CinemaCon, stating, "Something unprecedented happens in this movie. My character is not the one being chased. My character actually teams up with the Predator. And you get to see him in a completely new light. And... I'll stop there!"
Directed by Dan Trachtenberg, known for his work on 10 Cloverfield Lane and the Predator prequel Prey, Predator: Badlands was co-written by Trachtenberg and Patrick Aison. The film is slated to premiere in theaters on November 7, 2025, promising fans a fresh and exhilarating take on the beloved franchise.
