This guide details how to obtain and utilize Hydreigon, a powerful Dark/Dragon-type Pokémon in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Hydreigon, along with its pre-evolutions Deino and Zweilous, are exclusive to Pokémon Scarlet.
Acquiring Deino and Zweilous in Pokémon Scarlet:
Deino and Zweilous can be found in various locations: Alfornada Cavern, Dalizapa Passage, Glaseado Mountain, Area Zero, and North Province (Area Two). Higher-level Deino (levels 35-40) reside in Alfornada Cavern and Dalizapa Passage. Koraidon's high jump ability is necessary for accessing Alfornada Cavern. Dalizapa Passage is located between Medali and Zapapico. Three-star Tera Raids (requiring 3 Gym Badges) also offer Deino, potentially with its Hidden Ability and varying Tera Types. Zweilous appears in four-star Tera Raids.
Obtaining Deino in Pokémon Violet:
Since Deino is Scarlet-exclusive, trading or transferring via Pokémon HOME is necessary. A Nintendo Switch Online membership is required for Union Circle trading. Pokémon HOME allows transfers from Pokémon Sword/Shield, Pokémon GO, and Pokémon Scarlet. Transfer steps:
- Move Deino to your Basic Box in Pokémon HOME.
- Open Pokémon Violet in HOME and transfer Deino to a PC Box.
Evolving Deino:
Deino evolves into Zweilous at level 50, and Zweilous evolves into Hydreigon at level 64. Auto-battling or using Exp. Candies (L and XL recommended) accelerates this process.
Hydreigon's Strengths and Weaknesses:
Hydreigon boasts a 600 base stat total, excelling in Special Attack and Attack with good Speed. A Timid or Jolly Nature is recommended.
Stat | Base Stat |
---|---|
HP | 92 |
Attack | 105 |
Sp. Attack | 125 |
Defense | 90 |
Sp. Def | 90 |
Speed | 98 |
Total | 600 |
Type Effectiveness:
- Super Effective Against: Dragon, Ghost, Psychic
- Weaknesses: Fairy (4x), Fighting, Bug, Dragon, Ice
- Resistances: Grass, Water, Fire, Electric, Ghost, Dark
- Immunities: Ground, Psychic
Terastallizing mitigates Hydreigon's 4x Fairy weakness. Its movepool allows for both physical and special attacking styles. Flash Cannon (via TM) is crucial to counter Fairy-type attacks. Other recommended moves include Nasty Plot, Dragon Pulse (or Draco Meteor), and Dark Pulse.
