Praised for their innovative features, the games introduced an in-game clock affecting Pokémon appearances and events, and a whopping 100 new Pokémon (Gen 2), including Pichu, Cleffa, Hoothoot, Chikorita, Umbreon, Ho-Oh, Lugia, and many more. Their legacy continued with the 2009 Nintendo DS remakes, Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver.
