"Pokémon Cards Secretly Feature Classic Game Boy Levels"

By JackFeb 22,2025

Pokémon TCG Pocket's artwork has captivated players since its release, but recently, hidden details connecting the cards to the original Game Boy games have been unearthed.

The discovery began when Reddit user asch_win highlighted details on the Spearow card. The card's background subtly depicts Celadon City's Department Store from Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, alongside a section of Route 16, a known Spearow habitat.

Other Reddit users, like jteede, found similar connections: a Diglett card near Vermillion City, a Haunter card by Lavender Town's tower, and more. Further investigation by asch_win even revealed location-specific references within Supporter cards.

Many card illustrations feature fantastical settings unrelated to established Pokémon lore. Some, like certain Pikachu cards, mirror real-world collectible cards. However, the hidden Easter eggs discovered are exclusive to Pokémon TCG Pocket.

The weekend saw a surge in community efforts to uncover more such references. A Gyarados card seemingly includes the S.S. Anne, while Oddish, Venonat, and Bellsprout cards appear to depict a scene near the seaside Snorlax from FireRed and LeafGreen.

More are anticipated, along with additional cards through Wonder Pick Events and updates. As Creatures Inc. and DeNA continue releasing cards, players are encouraged to look for further hidden references.

Meanwhile, the current Wonder Pick event features Charmander and Squirtle, and the ongoing debate about the impact of pack choice continues to generate discussion.
