New Adaptations Announced:
- Ghost of Tsushima: Legends (Anime Series): A new anime series based on the popular Ghost of Tsushima multiplayer mode, Legends, is in production with Crunchyroll and Aniplex, set to premiere exclusively on Crunchyroll in 2027. -
Horizon Zero Dawn (Film): Sony Pictures will produce a film adaptation of the critically acclaimed Horizon Zero Dawn.
-
Helldivers 2 (Film): Columbia Pictures is developing a film based on Helldivers 2. Details on both Horizon Zero Dawn and Helldivers 2 films remain scarce.
-
Until Dawn (Film): A film adaptation of Until Dawn is scheduled for release on April 25, 2025.
-
The Last of Us Season Two (TV Series): Neil Druckmann revealed a new trailer for the second season of The Last of Us, adapting elements from The Last of Us Part II and introducing characters like Abby and Dina.
Past Successes and Ongoing Projects:
PlayStation Productions, established in 2019, has already achieved notable success with adaptations like Uncharted (2022) and Gran Turismo (2023), both of which exceeded box office expectations. The Twisted Metal series (2023) on Peacock, while less critically acclaimed, completed production of its second season in late 2024. The release date for season two is yet to be announced.
Further projects in development include films based on Days Gone and a sequel to the Uncharted film, as well as a God of War television series.
The continued expansion of PlayStation Productions suggests a strong commitment to adapting its popular game franchises into diverse media, driven by audience demand and the proven success of previous ventures.
