Atlus producer Kazushi Wada reiterates the unlikelihood of Persona 3 Portable's popular female protagonist (FeMC), Kotone Shiomi/Minako Arisato, appearing in Persona 3 Reload. This decision, explained in a recent PC Gamer interview, stems from significant development challenges and budgetary constraints.
Initially considered for inclusion, even as potential post-launch DLC alongside Episode Aigis - The Answer, adding the FeMC proved too costly and time-consuming. Wada stated that the development time and expense would be unmanageable, making inclusion impossible within the planned release window. He apologized to fans who hoped for her inclusion, stating it's highly improbable.
The February release of Persona 3 Reload, a full remake of the 2006 JRPG, delighted many, but the FeMC's absence disappointed others. Despite fan demand, Wada's comments solidify the decision, previously hinted at in a Famitsu interview where he described the undertaking as significantly more challenging and expensive than developing Episode Aigis DLC. The development time and cost would have been exponentially higher, presenting insurmountable hurdles.
While many anticipated the FeMC's presence, either at launch or as DLC, Wada's definitive statement leaves little room for hope. The significant resource investment required makes her inclusion in Persona 3 Reload highly unlikely.
