Peacemaker Season 2 follows the release of Superman on July 11, marking the beginning of Gunn's rebooted DC Universe (DCU). It will be the third entry in this new universe, following the Creature Commandos TV series from last year and the upcoming Superman film this summer.
Gunn's new DCU aims to distance itself from the critically panned DC Extended Universe (DCEU), which included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. However, some elements and characters will carry over. Peacemaker is a prime example, having debuted in the DCEU with its first season and now transitioning into the new DCU with its second.
Gunn has mentioned that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," though specifics about what will transition from the DCEU to the DCU remain under wraps. He has confirmed that all members of Team Peacemaker will return with the original cast, including **John Cena** as Peacemaker, **Frank Grillo** as Rick Flag Sr., **Freddie Stroma** as Adrian Chase, and **Danielle Brooks** as Leota Adebayo.Furthermore, Gunn has indicated that Peacemaker Season 2 will be set after the events of both Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter's events directly impacting Peacemaker's storyline.
