Owlcat Games Expands into Game Publishing

Fostering Narrative-Driven Game Development

Pathfinder Devs Owlcat Games Become PublishersThe August 13th announcement on Owlcat's website revealed the studio's transition to a publisher, a significant step following its acquisition of META Publishing in 2021. This initiative underscores Owlcat's commitment to enriching the gaming landscape by providing resources and support to developers who share its passion for compelling narratives. The studio aims to empower creators to bring their unique storytelling visions to life, thereby expanding its influence within the gaming community.

This publishing venture is a natural progression for Owlcat, reflecting its desire to extend its impact beyond its own successful titles, such as Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader. By partnering with studios that prioritize narrative depth, Owlcat seeks to cultivate a richer and more diverse range of narrative-driven games.

New Games Under the Owlcat Publishing Umbrella

Owlcat Games has already initiated partnerships with two promising development teams, selecting projects that align with its focus on immersive storytelling. More details about these exciting projects are expected later this month.

Emotion Spark Studio (Serbia) is developing Rue Valley, a narrative RPG centered around a protagonist trapped in a time loop within a secluded town. The game will explore themes of mental health and personal growth as the character unravels the mystery surrounding the time loop.

Another Angle Games (Poland) is creating Shadow of the Road, an isometric RPG set in an alternate feudal Japan. This title blends samurai culture, honor, and allegiance with tactical turn-based combat, featuring a unique fusion of magical yokai and steampunk technology.

Both Rue Valley and Shadow of the Road are in early development, but Owlcat's involvement promises to bolster their development and launch, ensuring the delivery of high-quality narrative experiences. Owlcat plans to provide further updates on these games as development progresses.

Owlcat's transition to publishing represents a significant advancement, not only for the studio itself, but also for the broader gaming industry. By supporting emerging talent and fostering innovative storytelling, Owlcat is poised to significantly enhance the variety and depth of narrative-driven games available to players globally.
