Path of Exile 2's endgame presents a significant challenge. To ease the transition, developers have strategically placed easily-missed encounters throughout the main campaign. These encounters offer permanent buffs, extra passive skill points, and even weapon set skill points. One such encounter, the Sisters of Garukhan, provides a valuable +10% Lightning Resistance buff. This guide explains how to locate and activate this crucial buff.

Where To Find the Sisters of Garukhan

The Sisters of Garukhan encounter appears twice: in Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating the shrine at each location grants +10% Lightning Resistance. Its in-game icon is easily overlooked, so many players miss it entirely.

Due to PoE 2's randomly generated maps, there's no guaranteed location within the Spires of Dushar. However, it's always present on this map. A thorough search will reveal a shrine resembling the image above. Interacting with the shrine activates the buff. Be prepared for combat; metal automatons, initially appearing static, will animate and attack upon activation. Activating the shrine triggers all automatons on the map.

A helpful strategy is to utilize the checkpoint near the shrine. If you reach the exit checkpoint first, fast travel back to avoid navigating the entire map.

Claiming the +10% Lightning Resistance Buff

The +10% Lightning Resistance buff is applied immediately upon shrine interaction. It's not a dropped item or a reward for defeating the automatons; it's instantaneous.

Remember, the Sisters of Garukhan encounter is repeatable in Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel. Activating both yields a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.

Troubleshooting: Why the Buff Isn't Showing

Many players find it confusing that even after activating the Sisters of Garukhan, their resistance values might appear negative.

This is because PoE 2 applies a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances after each Act (Chaos Resistance remains unaffected). Therefore, after completing Act 1, the initial +10% from the Act 2 Sisters of Garukhan nets a zero effect. In Act 2 Cruel, the buff will partially offset the accumulated elemental resistance debuffs.

To verify the buff's activation, remove all equipment and check your resistances in the endgame. A -40% elemental resistance total indicates that you have not missed any of these buffs.
