Overwatch 2 is set to make its highly anticipated return to China on February 19, following a two-year hiatus. A technical test will precede this event, commencing on January 8, offering players the opportunity to explore all 42 heroes, including Overwatch 2 Season 14's newest tank, Hazard, and the classic 6v6 game mode.
The absence of Overwatch 2 in China began on January 24, 2023, when Blizzard and NetEase parted ways, halting the availability of Blizzard games in the region. However, in April 2024, both parties resolved their differences, paving the way for the restoration of Blizzard titles in one of the world's largest gaming markets.
Chinese players missed out on 12 seasons during this period, including six new heroes introduced since Season 2—Lifeweaver, Illari, Mauga, Venture, Juno, and Hazard—and significant updates such as the Flashpoint and Clash game modes, along with new maps and hero reworks. The Overwatch Championship Series will also return in 2025, featuring a dedicated China region and hosting its inaugural live event in Hangzhou to celebrate the game's comeback.
While the 2025 Lunar New Year event in Overwatch 2 is set to conclude shortly before the game relaunches in China, fans hope for a delayed celebration to ensure they can enjoy the festivities within the game.
