Obsidian RPG Avowed Can Hit 60FPS on Xbox Series X

By PeytonFeb 25,2025

Obsidian's Avowed: 60fps on Xbox Series X Confirmed, Series S Locked at 30fps

Avowed, Obsidian Entertainment's highly anticipated RPG, will achieve a frame rate of up to 60 frames per second (fps) on the Xbox Series X, according to game director Carrie Patel in a MinnMax interview. While she didn't elaborate on specifics, the confirmation clarifies previous reports. The Xbox Series S version, as previously announced, will remain capped at 30fps.

Whether Avowed will offer selectable performance and graphics modes (60fps with lower visuals vs. 30fps with enhanced visuals) remains unconfirmed. It's unclear if the 60fps target on the Series X is the default setting or requires a specific performance mode.

The game's release is staggered based on the edition purchased. The premium edition, priced at $89.99, grants early access on February 13th. The standard edition, costing $69.99, launches on February 18th, reflecting a recent industry trend that has already been abandoned by some publishers like Ubisoft.

Set within the Pillars of Eternity universe, Avowed is a first-person fantasy RPG emphasizing player choice and freedom. The narrative explores themes of war, mystery, and intrigue, allowing players to build relationships and rivalries that impact the story.

IGN's recent final preview lauded the game's engaging conversations, substantial player agency, and overall enjoyable experience, stating, "Avowed is just a lot of fun."
