Bethesda has exciting news for PlayStation 5 owners: MachineGames' eagerly anticipated Indiana Jones and The Great Circle is set to launch on PS5 with early access on April 15, followed by a global release on April 17. Fans who pre-order the game will enjoy this exclusive early access period.
The PS5 release, coming four months after the game's debut on Xbox and PC, was revealed alongside a playful promotional trailer. This trailer brings together two of the most iconic voices in video gaming: Troy Baker, who voices Indiana Jones in the game, and Nolan North, renowned for his role as Nathan Drake in the PlayStation-exclusive Uncharted series. The meeting of these two actors is a nod to the full-circle moment that The Great Circle represents, especially given the clear inspiration Uncharted draws from the Indiana Jones franchise.
Adding a twist to the promotion, Microsoft-owned Bethesda has cleverly included Nolan North, despite his association with Sony's Uncharted. In the trailer, North's character playfully hints at his typical adventures, suggesting he might have to leave abruptly due to impending danger, a common theme in Nathan Drake's escapades. When asked by North how he plans to handle private military forces with just a whip, Baker humorously responds by pointing to his head, hinting at using his wits, to which North quips, "headbutt. I like it. Aggressive." Their banter continues as they discuss their differing motives with ancient artifacts—North's character, reminiscent of Drake, wants to sell them, while Baker's Indy aims to donate them to museums. This exchange symbolizes Nathan Drake welcoming Indiana Jones into the elite club of adventurers, with North declaring, "Welcome to the club."
The trailer also humorously alludes to the possibility of Lara Croft joining the fray, suggesting a fun crossover of gaming's greatest treasure hunters. This release marks another step in Microsoft's strategy to bring its titles to multiple platforms, following the trend set by games like Forza Horizon 5 and Doom: The Dark Ages.
Since launching on Game Pass, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle has already attracted 4 million players, a number expected to surge with its PS5 launch. Adding to the excitement, Harrison Ford, the original Indiana Jones, has given his seal of approval to Troy Baker's performance, humorously stating, "You don’t need artificial intelligence to steal my soul. You can already do it for nickels and dimes with good ideas and talent. He did a brilliant job, and it didn’t take AI to do it." Ford shared these sentiments in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, expressing his satisfaction with Baker's portrayal of the iconic character.
