By ZoeMay 02,2025

Hideaki Nishino has been appointed as the sole CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), effective April 1, 2025. This announcement comes from a recent press release, which also highlighted other significant leadership changes within Sony Corporation. Hiroki Totoki, the current CFO of Sony, will ascend to the role of president and CEO of the entire company, succeeding Kenichiro Yoshida, who has led Sony since April 2018 following Kazuo Hirai. Additionally, Lin Tao, currently the SVP of Finance, Corporate Development, and Strategy, will step into the role of CFO.

Just last year, following the retirement of former SIE CEO Jim Ryan, it was decided that leadership responsibilities would be shared between Nishino and Hermen Hulst. Hulst took on the role of head of PlayStation Studios, while Nishino managed the hardware and technology aspects. With this new appointment, Nishino will now oversee all operations of SIE and lead the platform business group, while Hulst will continue to head PlayStation Studios.

Nishino, who joined Sony in 2000, previously held the position of SVP of the Platform Experience Group. In his statement regarding the new role, Nishino expressed his honor in taking the helm at SIE. He emphasized the company's commitment to leveraging technology and creativity to develop engaging entertainment experiences for everyone. "We will continue to grow the PlayStation community in new ways, such as IP expansion, while also delivering the best in technology innovation," Nishino stated. He also acknowledged Hulst's expertise and leadership in his continuing role and expressed gratitude towards the PlayStation community for their ongoing support, expressing excitement for the future.
