Nintendo Denies Genki's Switch 2 Showcase Claims
Following the recent CES 2025 event, where accessory maker Genki displayed a purported 3D-printed Nintendo Switch 2 mockup, Nintendo has issued a statement clarifying the situation. Both CNET Japan and the Sankei newspaper reported Nintendo's denial, stating that the images and videos are unofficial and that Genki was never provided with any Switch 2 hardware by Nintendo.
Genki, an American company specializing in electronics and video game console accessories, generated significant buzz by showcasing the mockup and allegedly revealing a "real" Switch 2 unit and release date to journalists and attendees. Their website even features a dedicated page for upcoming Switch 2 accessories, complete with an animated mockup of the console.
Despite Genki's claims, Nintendo maintains radio silence on concrete Switch 2 details, only confirming that backward compatibility with Switch 1 games is planned. This discrepancy between Genki's claims and Nintendo's official silence has prompted speculation that an official announcement from Nintendo may be imminent.
