Nintendo Comments on Latest Switch 2 Leak

Nintendo Responds to Switch 2 Leaks from CES 2025

Following a series of Nintendo Switch 2 leaks originating from CES 2025, Nintendo issued an uncommon statement. The company confirmed that the circulating images are not official, citing their absence from the event. This marks a rare public response to product leaks for the gaming giant.

The Switch 2 has been the subject of numerous leaks since late 2024, possibly due to its reported entry into mass production. One notable leak involved accessory manufacturer Genki displaying a purported Switch 2 replica at CES 2025. Images of this model quickly spread across social media.

In response to inquiries from the Sankei Shimbun, Nintendo clarified that its non-participation in CES 2025 means any Switch 2 imagery from the show lacks official endorsement. The statement simply confirmed the unofficial nature of the images, without commenting on their accuracy.

Genki's Replica: Accurate or Not?

While Nintendo remained silent on the replica's accuracy, its design aligns with previous leaks and rumors. The most significant difference from the original Switch is an additional button, labeled "C," located below the right Joy-Con's home button. Its function remains unknown. Genki CEO Eddie Tsai also mentioned other purported features, including magnetically attaching Joy-Cons and their potential use as a mouse, corroborating existing speculation.

Nintendo's previous statements indicated a Switch 2 reveal within fiscal year 2024 (ending March 31, 2025). With approximately 80 days remaining, the company still has time to fulfill this promise. A retail release is unlikely before the second quarter of 2025, and the console is rumored to be priced around $399.
