Nintendo Delays Japanese Alarmo Release Despite Global Availability
Nintendo has announced a postponement of the Alarmo alarm clock's general retail release in Japan due to insufficient stock. The launch, initially planned for February 2025, is now delayed indefinitely.
Production Shortages Cause Delay
The decision to postpone stems from current production and inventory challenges, according to an official statement from Nintendo Japan. While the global release is still scheduled for March 2025, the impact on international stock remains unclear.
In the interim, Nintendo Japan will offer a pre-order system exclusively for Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Pre-orders are expected to open in mid-December, with shipments commencing in early February 2025. The precise pre-order start date will be announced separately.
The Alarmo's Unexpected Popularity
The Alarmo, a gaming-themed alarm clock featuring iconic Nintendo soundtracks (Super Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Splatoon, RingFit Adventure, and more), launched globally in October. Its immediate popularity overwhelmed Nintendo, leading to the cessation of online orders and a lottery system for remaining stock. Both online and physical stock in Japan, including the New York Nintendo store, quickly sold out.
Further updates on pre-orders and the rescheduled general release date will be shared as they become available.
