Nintendo's Surprise: An Interactive Alarm Clock and a Mysterious Switch Online Playtest

Forget everything you thought you knew about alarm clocks! Nintendo has launched the Nintendo Sound Clock: Alarmo, a $99 interactive alarm clock that uses game sounds to coax you out of bed. This isn't your grandma's alarm clock; it's designed to feel like you're waking up inside a Nintendo game.

Alarmo: Wake Up to the Sounds of Victory!

Featuring sounds from popular franchises like Mario, Zelda, and Splatoon, the Alarmo utilizes a unique radio wave sensor to detect your movements. The alarm intensifies if you linger in bed, only stopping once you're out of bed. Think of it as a mini victory fanfare for conquering that morning struggle! Additional free sound updates are planned.

The Alarmo's clever design prioritizes privacy. Unlike camera-based solutions, the radio wave sensor doesn't record video, making it suitable for dark rooms and even environments with obstacles. Nintendo developer Tetsuya Akama highlights its ability to detect subtle movements without compromising your privacy.

Early access is available for Nintendo Switch Online members in the US and Canada via the My Nintendo Store. Nintendo New York will also offer in-person purchases at launch.
