Netflix Discontinues Its Interactive Fiction Series Netflix Stories

Netflix has officially ceased development on its interactive fiction games under the Netflix Stories brand, ending its brief experiment with narrative gaming. While surprising given the platform's active player base, this move reflects Netflix Games' strategic pivot toward mobile titles focusing on party games, kids' content, mainstream releases, and TV-compatible interactive experiences.

A Short-Lived But Popular Experiment

Despite mixed reviews, Netflix Stories consistently ranked among Netflix's most-played games, currently holding fourth place in Netflix Games' top 10 carousel (which tracks playtime rather than downloads). Variety first reported this change as part of Netflix Games' broader restructuring.

Boss Fight Entertainment, the studio behind Netflix Stories, will continue developing other projects including Squid Game: Unleashed.

What Happens Now?

The recently announced Love Is Blind: NYC will be the final interactive title released. Development has halted on upcoming projects like The Love Contract - an original romance story (unrelated to Netflix IP) about an actress navigating Hollywood love triangles amid fake dating scandals - originally scheduled for April 8th.

While new titles won't be developed, existing Netflix Stories games remain available:

  • Love Is Blind
  • Emily in Paris
  • Money Heist
  • Winter's Kiss
  • Perfect Match
  • Sex Education
  • Selling Sunset
  • Sweet Magnolias
  • Virgin River
  • The Perfect Couple

Cancelled sequels include planned adaptations of Outer Banks and Ginny & Georgia.

You can still access these interactive stories via the Google Play Store. For more gaming updates, read our coverage of Tribe Nine's upcoming Chapter 3: Neo Chiyoda City trailer.
