Minecraft is heading to mobile with its first-ever match-three spinoff.
Coming from King, it delivers block-themed matching action.
Build, explore, and experience a Minecraft-inspired twist on King’s signature style.
Minecraft. You know it, you (probably) love it. But beyond its blocky charm, it’s a monumental global phenomenon. Microsoft, which acquired Minecraft and Mojang back in 2014, has long aimed to turn the franchise into a spin-off powerhouse. Their latest move puts King in charge of Minecraft Blast!
Currently in soft launch on iOS in Malaysia, Minecraft Blast delivers exactly what you’d expect. It blends King’s signature fast-paced match-three mechanics with unmistakable elements from the Minecraft universe. Smash blocks inspired by the original game and power up with themed boosters to clear your way.
The building element—so core to Minecraft—is fully integrated here. You’ll be able to design and construct your own structures to customize your Minecraft Blast world. Exploration plays a big role too, letting you uncover villages, caves, and even pirate ships.

Blocked off
Minecraft Blast clearly radiates polish, and it’s obvious this was thoughtfully crafted in King’s studios for broad appeal. Personally, I can’t deny the gameplay looks engaging and satisfying.
But part of me misses the low-poly, quirky appeal of the original Minecraft. Then again, it’s hard to fault King—Mojang, under Microsoft, has been steadily softening Minecraft’s look with rounder, more approachable characters.
Regardless, this marks a significant leap for the franchise, especially since mobile spin-offs have never really been part of Minecraft’s history. Will it succeed? We’ll just have to wait and see.
