This special giveaway gives both new and returning players an opportunity to dive into the world of Metro and experience the origins of the series. Metro 2033 Redux Is Free Until April 16

In honor of Metro’s 15th anniversary, 4A Games made the announcement via their official Twitter (X) account on April 14 that Metro 2033 Redux is now available for free on Steam and Xbox platforms. This offer will remain active until April 16 at 3 PM UTC / 5 PM CET / 9 AM PT, giving players just 48 hours to claim the title before it disappears from the promotion.

The studio wanted to give newcomers a chance to play the game that started it all while also allowing longtime fans to revisit the original adventure. Additionally, in a blog post published on March 16 on 4A Games’ official website, the team shared more details about their plans for the anniversary celebration. The post read:

"Throughout this year, there will be events, deals, and celebratory content across the Metro social media channels to thank you, our players, for joining us on this journey so far."

Founded in Kyiv, Ukraine, and later expanding to Malta, 4A Games developed Metro based on the science fiction novel *Metro 2033* by Russian author Dmitry Glukhovsky. Despite the ongoing challenges faced due to the conflict in Ukraine, the studio remains committed to exploring themes related to war and survival—realities that have become ever more personal for many of their team members. They added:

"These circumstances are incredibly challenging, the situation remains dangerous and not within our control, but we are currently as safe as possible, and we want to manage your expectations around the reveal of the next Metro title—it will be ready when it is ready, and we can’t wait for you to see it."

The Next Metro Game in Development

As part of their update, 4A Games confirmed they are currently working on two triple-A projects: the next installment in the Metro series and a brand-new original IP. While no specific details were shared regarding the new IP, the developers did provide some insight into the development of the upcoming Metro title.

The full-scale invasion of Ukraine in 2022 significantly influenced how the team approached storytelling for the next Metro game. According to the blog post:

"As we said in our last studio update, in 2022 a full-scale Russian invasion changed how we wanted to tell the story of the next Metro game. As art became life for many of our developers in Ukraine, we drew from that lived experience to create an even darker story—those themes already present in Metro becoming ever more apparent and important."
