The highly anticipated manga adaptation of Atlus' Metaphor: ReFantazio has arrived! The first chapter is now available to read for free on MANGA Plus.
Experience Will's Journey in Manga Form
Atlus collaborated with Shueisha, enlisting the talents of manga artist Yōichi Amano (Akaboshi: Ibun Suikoden, Stealth Symphony) to bring Metaphor: ReFantazio to life in manga format. While faithful to the game's core narrative, the manga takes creative liberties, significantly altering the initial storyline. The first chapter features new events, restructured sequences, and omits certain game elements. Crucially, the protagonist's name is officially confirmed as Will, aligning with the game's default name.
The next chapter is scheduled for release on February 19th, simultaneously with the Japanese version.
A Critical and Commercial Triumph
Developed by Studio Zero, led by Katsura Hashino (director and producer of the Persona series), Metaphor: ReFantazio follows protagonist Will and his fairy companion Gallica in the kingdom of Euchronia. Their quest to save the prince takes an unexpected turn following the king's assassination, thrusting Will into a political struggle for the throne.
The game's phenomenal success is undeniable. It sold over one million copies globally on its launch day, surpassing even Persona 3: Reload to become Atlus' fastest-selling title. Critical acclaim followed, earning numerous awards including Best RPG, Best Art Direction, and Best Narrative at the 2024 Game Awards.
Metaphor: ReFantazio is available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Xbox Series X|S.
