Metaphor Nabs Series Potential

Hashino, when discussing future projects, expressed interest in developing a game set during Japan's Sengoku period. He envisions this historical setting as ideal for a new Japanese role-playing game (JRPG), potentially drawing inspiration from the Basara series.

Currently, there are no concrete plans to create a Metaphor: ReFantazio sequel. However, Hashino emphasized his commitment to completing the current project. He revealed that the game was initially conceived as the third major JRPG series for Atlus, following Persona and Shin Megami Tensei, aiming to become a flagship title for the company.

While a direct sequel is unlikely, the team is already working on their next project. An anime adaptation of Metaphor: ReFantazio, however, is under consideration. The game itself has been a significant success for Atlus, achieving the highest concurrent player count of any of their platform launches to date.

Metaphor: ReFantazio boasts a peak concurrent player count exceeding 85,961, surpassing the 35,474 for Persona 5 Royal and the 45,002 for Persona 3 Reload. The game is available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
