Marvel Halts Several TV Show Productions

By BlakeMar 13,2025

Marvel Television has reportedly put three shows on hold: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. Sources at Deadline indicate these projects weren't officially greenlit, leaving open the possibility of future development, but Marvel has shifted its strategic focus.

This strategic shift coincides with Marvel Studios' preparations for the Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again. This week, Brad Winderbaum, Marvel Studios' head of streaming and TV, revealed the company is exploring a reunion of the street-level heroes from Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist—better known as The Defenders.

Marvel Studios is now prioritizing the development of more shows than it produces. As Winderbaum told Screen Rant last year, “We’re really being careful about what we choose to do next.”

The news regarding Nova is particularly surprising, especially considering that just two months ago, former Criminal Minds showrunner Ed Bernero was announced as writer and showrunner, with Nova confirmed as a Disney+ series. For more details on Nova, see IGN's comprehensive article.

Strange Academy was anticipated to center around a magic school founded by Doctor Strange, with Wong as the headmaster. Details about Terror, Inc. remain scarce.

Confirmed Marvel TV show release dates include: Daredevil: Born Again on Disney+ March 4th, Ironheart on June 24th, and Wonder Man in December. Following the release of Captain America: Brave New World, three MCU films are slated for release this year: Thunderbolts in May and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
