Despite requiring players to sign NDAs to keep details of EA's upcoming untitled Battlefield game under wraps, leaks have surfaced online, showcasing dozens of videos and screenshots from the closed playtesting sessions. These leaks have revealed what participants have been experiencing in the game.
As previously reported when the leaks first appeared, the footage corroborates the modern setting that Vince Zampella had hinted at, setting this game apart from its predecessors. A quick browse through the Battlefield subreddit reveals a variety of firefights, glimpses of the game's destructible environments, and several new gameplay mechanics, such as the ability to hang off vehicles and drag wounded teammates to safety.
Surprisingly, EA has taken a relatively relaxed approach to these leaks. Typically, publishers are quick to act against unauthorized early footage due to concerns over incomplete animations, unfinished UI, and subpar graphics. However, despite players breaching their confidentiality agreements by sharing videos and screenshots, EA has not issued any takedown notices.
This leniency might be influenced by the positive reception the leaks have received, in contrast to the lukewarm response to Battlefield 2042. Fans have expressed their satisfaction with the early glimpses of the game.
One player remarked, "I am scared to say that but this game is shaping up very damn well. I hope there are no catches…" Another added, "The animations of the weapons moving around while running / doing anything look better than 2042 to me."
A third player enthusiastically stated, "Dude, even in a pre-alpha state, the explosions, bullets, and projectiles whizzing by, buildings crumbling down, dust kicking up. This has so much potential!"
Someone else commented, "I can't get over how good the sounds and the destruction look at alpha."
EA anticipates launching its next Battlefield game within the fiscal year 2026, which spans from April 2025 to March 2026. Following the first official unveiling just last month, it's confirmed that the new Battlefield will feature a return to a traditional, single-player, linear campaign, a feature that was notably absent in the multiplayer-focused Battlefield 2042, much to the delight of fans.
