Warhorse Studios confirms: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2) will launch DRM-free! Rumors of Denuvo or other DRM integration are false.
Warhorse Studios Clears Up DRM Misconceptions for KCD2
No DRM in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2
Following player speculation, Warhorse Studios' PR head, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, definitively stated during a recent Twitch stream that KCD2 will not include any DRM whatsoever, dispelling rumors about Denuvo's inclusion. He addressed the "misinformation" circulating online, emphasizing that the developers never confirmed any DRM implementation.
"KCD 2 will not have Denuvo, or any DRM," Stolz-Zwilling clarified. He appealed to fans to cease inquiries about DRM, stating, "Stop asking 'Is Denuvo in the game?' under every post. Unless Warhorse announces it, anything else is untrue."
The absence of DRM is welcome news for many gamers, who often associate DRM, particularly Denuvo, with performance problems and negative gameplay experiences. Denuvo's anti-piracy function has drawn significant criticism, with claims of reduced performance and even game instability.
Denuvo's product manager, Andreas Ullmann, has previously acknowledged the negative perception surrounding Denuvo, attributing it to misinformation and confirmation bias.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, set in medieval Bohemia and following the journey of blacksmith-in-training Henry, launches February 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Players who contributed at least $200 to the Kickstarter campaign will receive a free copy.
