Jon Bernthal's Punisher is slated for a comeback following the conclusion of Daredevil: Born Again Season 1, in a Marvel special reminiscent of a Guardians of the Galaxy style adventure.
Entertainment Weekly reported that Bernthal will also contribute to the script alongside We Own This City director Reinaldo Marcus Green.
"It's a high-octane narrative, yet retains the emotional depth expected of a Frank Castle story," commented Brad Winderbaum, head of Marvel Television. "It's incredibly exciting."

News of this Punisher standalone special arrives as Marvel Television plans the return of the Defenders to Disney+. This street-level superhero team, featuring Matt Murdock's Daredevil, Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, Mike Colter's Luke Cage, and Finn Jones' Iron Fist, last appeared on Netflix before their episodes transitioned to Disney+ and were integrated into the MCU canon.
Winderbaum previously told Entertainment Weekly, “It’s thrilling to work within this expanded universe. While we lack the limitless creative freedom of comic books, we're working with actors, time constraints, and the immense scale of production needed for a cinematic universe, particularly on television.
“However, considering all these factors, it's a creatively stimulating endeavor we're actively pursuing.”
Daredevil: Born Again, premiering March 4th, continues the Daredevil saga that originated on Netflix, featuring returning characters such as the Punisher and Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk (Kingpin). This time, the antagonist is the artistically driven serial killer, Muse.
