Japan Hosts First ALGS in Asia for Apex Legends

Exciting news for Apex Legends fans! The Apex Legends Global Series (ALGS) Year 4 Championships is set to make history by hosting its first-ever offline tournament in Asia. The event will take place in the vibrant city of Sapporo, Japan, at the prestigious Daiwa House PREMIST DOME from January 29 to February 2, 2025. This tournament will see 40 elite teams competing for the coveted title of ALGS Champion, marking a significant milestone for the global competitive esports scene of Apex Legends.

The choice of Sapporo as the host city is a testament to the growing popularity of Apex Legends in Japan. EA's senior director of Esports, John Nelson, expressed excitement about the decision, stating, "ALGS has a very large community in Japan, and we have seen many comments calling for an offline event in Japan. That's why we couldn't be more pleased to celebrate this milestone with an offline tournament held at the iconic Daiwa House PREMIST DOME."

Apex Legends First ALGS in Asia Goes to Japan

This marks a significant shift for ALGS, which has previously held tournaments in the US, UK, Sweden, and Germany. EA highlighted the significance of the event, noting, "This year will be extra special as we are having our first LAN event in APAC." The enthusiasm extends to the local community, with Sapporo Mayor Katsuhiro Akimoto expressing pride in hosting the event. "We are extremely honored that the Daiwa House PREMIST DOME has been selected as the venue for this global e-sports tournament," he said. "The entire city of Sapporo will be supporting your tournament and we would like to wholeheartedly welcome all the athletes, officials, and fans."

As the ALGS Year 4 Championships in Sapporo approaches, fans should keep an eye on the Last Chance Qualifier (LCQ), scheduled from September 13 to 15, 2024. The LCQ offers teams a final shot at qualifying for the championship. Fans can tune in to the LCQ broadcast on the official @PlayApex Twitch channel to see which teams will make it to the finals.
