Iansan: The New Bennett Replacement in Genshin Impact?

By JonathanMay 26,2025

In the world of *Genshin Impact*, Bennett has long been celebrated as one of the game's most valuable and versatile characters, maintaining his relevance and utility across a wide range of team compositions since the game's inception. However, with the introduction of Iansan in Version 5.5 on March 26, players are buzzing about whether she could serve as the new "Bennett replacement." Let's dive deeper into this comparison.

How Does Iansan’s Kit Compare to Bennett’s in Genshin Impact?

Iansan, a 4-Star Electro Polearm wielder from Natlan, steps into the spotlight as a support character, much like Bennett. Her primary function is to provide DMG buffs and healing, centered around her Elemental Burst, The Three Principles of Power. This ability summons a Kinetic Energy Scale that follows your active character, boosting their ATK based on Iansan's Nightsoul Points. Unlike Bennett's stationary field, Iansan's method encourages movement, with the scale tracking distance traveled and restoring Nightsoul Points based on that movement.

For optimal performance, Iansan's ATK bonus scales differently depending on her Nightsoul Points. With fewer than 42 out of 54 maximum points, the bonus is based on both her Nightsoul Points and ATK. At 42 or more points, the bonus scales purely off her ATK, emphasizing the importance of building her with high ATK.

When it comes to healing, Bennett outshines Iansan significantly, capable of restoring up to 70% of a character's HP within his field. Iansan, while able to heal, cannot heal herself, putting her at a disadvantage in this aspect. Additionally, Bennett's C6 constellation allows for Pyro infusion into the active character's Normal Attacks, a feature Iansan lacks, which can be crucial in certain team compositions.

For exploration, Iansan offers unique advantages. She can use her Nightsoul Points to sprint without consuming stamina and jump longer distances, enhancing mobility. However, Bennett remains the superior choice for Pyro teams due to Elemental Resonance, which boosts ATK and provides Pyro infusion.

Bennett raises his fist triumphantly.

Should You Choose Iansan or Bennett in Genshin Impact?

Iansan can be seen as Bennett's counterpart, sharing a similar aesthetic and supportive role. Rather than outright replacing him, she offers a compelling alternative, particularly for second teams in challenging content like the Spiral Abyss. Her unique Kinetic Scale mechanic eliminates the need to stay within a fixed area for buffs, promoting a more dynamic playstyle.

If you're eager to experiment with Iansan's capabilities, you'll have the opportunity during Phase I of *Genshin Impact* Version 5.5, launching on March 26. Whether you choose Iansan or stick with Bennett will depend on your team's needs and your preferred playstyle.
