Hyper Light Breaker features several valuable resources, but Golden Rations stand out as the rarest and most crucial for significant upgrades. The game doesn't explicitly explain these resources, leaving players to discover their purpose and location through gameplay. To save you the guesswork, this guide details how to reliably obtain Golden Rations.

Where to Get Golden Rations

Currently, two primary methods exist for acquiring Golden Rations in the early access version: exploration and cycle resets. During your runs, keep an eye out for chest icons on the map. These chests often contain resources for purchases or upgrades, and sometimes, Golden Rations. A Golden Ration icon above a chest indicates its contents.

Areas containing Prisms (marked by golden diamond icons) frequently have nearby chests containing Golden Rations.

Alternatively, you can utilize cycle resets. A cycle represents a single Overgrowth instance, resetting when your revives (Rez count) reach zero. After depleting your revives, you can choose to retry the map (at a resource cost) or completely reset the cycle at the Cursed Outpost. Successful cycle resets reward you based on your performance; achieving a high enough rank yields Golden Rations.

What are Golden Rations For?

Golden Rations are essential for progression in Hyper Light Breaker. Primarily, they unlock permanent upgrades at your home base, enhancing your characters or granting access to new vendor services.

Furthermore, Golden Rations unlock Sycoms—items defining your Breaker's stats and core passive ability, significantly impacting their playstyle.

Upon obtaining your first Golden Ration, prioritize upgrading your medkit with Pherus Bit. This significantly improves survivability, especially given the game's punishing combat mechanics.

Remember, resources collected during a run persist even upon death. However, equipped weapons, amps, and perks sustain damage (one pip), potentially leading to permanent loss.
