What Is Sunrise on the Reaping About?
The new Hunger Games novel is the fifth book in the series, but it takes place at a different point in the timeline. Sunrise on the Reaping is set approximately 40 years after the events of The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and 24 years before the story of Katniss Everdeen in the original Hunger Games novel. The narrative unfolds during the Second Quarter Quell, which was famously won by Haymitch Abernathy. Fans of the series will recognize Haymitch as the mentor for District 12, portrayed by Woody Harrelson in the film adaptations.
