- The new Hero update for Squad Busters is now live!
- This release focuses on powerful Heroes, supported by their Squaddies
- Unleash power moves, upgrade your squad, and enjoy faster, more intense gameplay
Squad Busters' popularity has seen its ups and downs. While the core game remains a fun and accessible MOBA-style experience, it hasn't quite reached the heights of success Supercell may have hoped for. Yet, skeptical players might be tempted to return and give Squad Busters another try with this latest update.
Heralded as the most ambitious update to any Supercell game in over 15 years, this release fundamentally changes Squad Busters' gameplay. Your squad is no longer just a collection of units; it now divides into the much more powerful Heroes and their supporting Squaddies.
Heroes, as you'd expect, are your central figures, now equipped with unique abilities and passives. Squaddies function similarly to the original units and can be upgraded during a match. You also no longer need to stop your squad to attack, though doing so will make your Squaddies attack more rapidly.
Calling All HeroesNaturally, this shifts the entire core of Squad Busters, making squads more resilient and moving the focus from a pseudo-RTS MOBA toward a more classic MOBA feel. The gameplay now revolves around using your Heroes and their 'power moves,' with Squaddies providing crucial support.
While some fans may regret that these changes diverge from the original design philosophy, the improvements are compelling. As much as I enjoyed Squad Busters initially, I didn't find myself playing it regularly. Shifting the focus to Heroes makes each player's decisions feel more impactful and significant.
