Arrowhead Studios, fresh off the overwhelmingly positive reception of Helldivers 2 (released a year ago), is currently developing a "high-concept" game. Creative director Johan Pilestedt took to social media to announce the project and solicit fan input.
Community suggestions ranged from a Smash TV remake to Star Fox-inspired titles. Pilestedt confirmed prior internal consideration of a Smash TV remake and hinted at a Star Fox-esque project within the "rail game" genre.
While specifics remain undisclosed, Arrowhead's active community engagement is evident. The remarkable success of Helldivers 2, a standout title of 2024, sets a high benchmark for their next endeavor.
A recent Helldivers 2 update, including the "Omens of Tyranny" expansion (shadow-dropped at the 2024 Game Awards), has significantly boosted player numbers on PS5. This update, featuring the highly anticipated Illuminate enemy faction, the 4x4 Fast Recon Vehicle, and new urban warfare maps, has been very well-received. With a rumored Killzone crossover also on the horizon, Helldivers 2 appears poised for continued success in 2025.
