Hearthstone Reveals StarCraft Mini-Set Details and Release Date

Hearthstone's expansive Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, boasting a record-breaking 49 new cards, arrives January 21st. This substantial addition to The Great Dark Beyond expansion introduces class and multi-class cards themed around StarCraft factions – Zerg (Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, Warlock), Protoss (Druid, Mage, Priest, Rogue), and Terran (Paladin, Shaman, Warrior) – alongside a single neutral Legendary card.

Initially teased during the November 13th, 2024 Warcraft Direct, the Mini-Set's full details have now been unveiled. The card distribution includes three cards per Hearthstone class, five faction-specific cards per StarCraft race (including one Legendary per race), and the aforementioned neutral Legendary, Grunty. Individual card reveals will continue throughout the week preceding the launch.

The Zerg cards emphasize summoning Zerglings and leveraging Hydralisks for swarm-based damage. Protoss cards focus on mana manipulation, enabling the deployment of powerful cards like the Carrier. Terran cards incorporate the Starship mechanic from The Great Dark Beyond, offering new Starship Pieces and strategies for deploying multiple Starships, including a Mech-type Starship.

This larger-than-usual Mini-Set reflects in its pricing. A complete set costs $20 (or 2500 gold), a $5 increase over standard Mini-Sets. The all-Golden version is priced at $80 (12,000 gold). However, players can purchase individual faction packs (Protoss, Terran, or Zerg) for $10 (1200 gold) each.

To celebrate the launch, Hearthstone is hosting two streamed events:

  • StarCast (January 23rd, 10 AM PST): Featuring StarCraft legends TrumpSC and Day9 showcasing the new cards.
  • HearthCraft (January 24th, 9 AM PST): Hearthstone community creators representing each StarCraft faction in competitive matches and mini-games.

Viewers of these Twitch streams will receive two standard and two Golden The Great Dark Beyond packs. Don't miss this opportunity to bolster your collection!
