Ready to take on the mighty Quematrice in *Monster Hunter Wilds* without getting scorched or losing your precious meat? Don’t worry, brave hunter, we’ve got you covered with all the tips and tricks you need to not only defeat but also capture this fiery beast.

How to Beat Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

The Quematrice, a giant chicken-like creature reminiscent of the Cockatrice, is a formidable foe. Thankfully, it breathes fire instead of petrifying its victims. This mid-sized monster can be effectively tackled with most weapons, but if you’re less confident, opt for a weapon with some range to keep a safe distance from its area attacks.

When it comes to weaknesses, the Quematrice is particularly vulnerable to water-based attacks. It has no known resistances, but it is immune to Sonic Bombs, so keep that in mind when planning your approach.

Be cautious of its tail strikes and sweeps, which can deal significant damage, especially the tail slam—a powerful attack where the Quematrice lifts its tail high before smashing it down. Dodge or block to avoid this. The real danger, however, lies in its fire-based attacks. These not only cause immediate damage but can also ignite you, leading to continuous health loss, and even set the ground ablaze.

The fire attacks are tricky to anticipate as they have minimal tells. Watch for the Quematrice rearing its head slightly and roaring before unleashing a flame from its tail. It can also perform a full sweep of fire after a similar roar and head lift. Another dangerous move is its charging attack, where it rushes towards you, turning at the last moment to throw fire your way. If you’re using ranged weapons, start moving backward as soon as you see it initiate these moves to stay safe.

How to Capture Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing Quematrice in Monster Hunter Wilds

Capturing the Quematrice requires preparation and the right tools. You'll need a Shock Trap and a Pitfall Trap, along with at least two Tranq Bombs. While one trap is sufficient, having a backup is crucial in *Monster Hunter* games, especially if the monster flees or another creature triggers it.

Once the Quematrice is weakened to the point of limping, or you notice the skull icon intermittently appearing on the mini-map, it's time to act. We recommend waiting until the monster moves to a new area after limping off, as this simplifies the process. Place your trap, lure the Quematrice into it, and then quickly throw two Tranq Bombs to secure your capture.
