In *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, the "Canker" side quest becomes accessible after completing "The Jaunt." This quest is a great opportunity to acquire a mace or some extra Groschen, enhancing your gameplay experience. Here’s a detailed guide on how to successfully complete the "Canker" quest.
Pick Up the Canker Side Quest
To initiate the "Canker" quest, you need to have a conversation with Gules at Semine. The ideal time to pick up this quest is during the wedding of Lord Semine and Agnes, where you can find Gules drinking beforehand. However, you can also start the quest earlier by speaking to Gules while he's on patrol at Semine. Ask him about his former band of bandits and offer your assistance in eliminating them. Canker, one of these former bandits, becomes your first target.
Find and Kill Canker
Once you accept the quest, Canker's location will be marked on your map, situated north of Nebakov Mill. Be cautious as the path to this location is frequented by bandits who may ambush you. You can choose to avoid them using stealth, engage in combat, or simply flee. While these random bandits are generally not difficult to defeat, they can deplete your health, which might be problematic before facing Canker.
The bandit camp where Canker resides is hidden in the mountains and can be tricky to find. You'll need to pass through a narrow gap to reach it, similar to accessing the Hermit’s house during the "Wedding Crashers" quest. Prepare for combat as you approach, as you'll encounter several bandits along with Canker. Some bandits may flee depending on the order in which you engage them, but it's crucial to eliminate most of them. Fortunately, Canker won’t escape, ensuring you can complete your mission by killing him.
Finish the Quest and Return to Gules
After defeating Canker and his accomplices, loot Canker’s body to collect the Light Mace, which serves as proof of your success. Feel free to take any additional items from him as well. Once you have the mace, head back to Gules at Semine to complete the "Canker" quest.
Following the completion of "Canker" in *Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2*, you'll need to wait a full in-game day before you can pick up the next quest in the series, "Handsome Charlie," by speaking to Gules again.
