Orna, the fantasy RPG and GPS MMO by Northern Forge Studios, is hosting a unique in-game event, Terra's Legacy, to raise awareness about environmental pollution. This event, running from September 9th to 19th, combines virtual gameplay with real-world environmental action.
Combating Pollution: In-Game and In Real Life
Terra's Legacy blends Orna's exploration with real-world environmental cleanup. Players identify polluted or littered locations in their surroundings and submit them through the game. Northern Forge then transforms these locations into in-game "Gloomsites," representing real-world pollution.
At these Gloomsites, players battle the Murk, pollution-themed enemies, contributing to raising awareness. Defeating the Murk allows players to plant trees and grow Gaia apples in the corresponding real-world locations. These Gaia apples can customize characters and enhance their magical abilities, with the added benefit of being harvestable by other players. The more players participate, the cleaner both the game world and the real world become.
