By ThomasMay 05,2025

After years of battling Ghouls in *Fallout 76*, players now have the chance to experience life from the other side with the introduction of a new questline. The question on every player's mind is: should you become a Ghoul in *Fallout 76*?

How to Become a Ghoul in Fallout 76

A Ghoul in Fallout 76.

To embark on this unique journey, you need to be at least level 50 and accept the "Leap of Faith" questline. Once you do, you'll venture into the Savage Divide to meet characters who will guide you through your transformation into a Ghoul. The process is straightforward, but it comes with both advantages and disadvantages.

Pros of Becoming a Ghoul in Fallout 76

Turning into a Ghoul unlocks new abilities such as Feral and Glow. The Feral meter starts at 100% and decreases over time, but you can replenish it by using Chems. Here's what the Feral meter offers:

  • Above 80%: +3 Strength, +3 Endurance, +30 Max HP
  • Above 60%: +15 Max HP
  • Above 40%: -1 Endurance, -5 Max HP
  • Above 20%: -3 Endurance, -15 Max HP, -10 Max AP
  • At 0%: +150% Melee Damage, -5 Endurance, -99 Charisma, -30 Max HP, -20 Max AP, -300% Hip-fire Gun Accuracy & V.A.T.S. Accuracy

The Glow ability boosts your maximum health and allows you to heal from radiation damage. To benefit from it, you'll need to embrace activities typically avoided, like consuming spoiled food and exploring irradiated zones.

Additionally, Ghouls gain access to exclusive Perk cards, which can be used alongside human Perk cards, offering significant upgrades. As a Ghoul, you're also immune to diseases and don't need to eat regular food, making exploration more convenient.

Cons of Becoming a Ghoul in Fallout 76

However, becoming a Ghoul isn't without its challenges. Engaging in the "Leap of Faith" questline may strain your relationships with certain factions, potentially blocking access to some quests. Moreover, your Charisma will decrease, which can make interactions less enjoyable.

Fortunately, *Fallout 76* offers solutions to these issues. A new NPC, Jaye Vo, introduced in the "Leap of Faith" questline, provides disguises that allow you to continue with missions and avoid conflicts.

Should You Become a Ghoul in Fallout 76?

Despite the drawbacks, the benefits of becoming a Ghoul in *Fallout 76* are compelling. The unique abilities and Perk cards make it an enticing choice. If you later decide to revert to human form, you can do so via the Character screen, though you'll have to abandon the "Leap of Faith" questline. Once the questline is complete, you can transform back into a Ghoul for 1,000 Atoms.

With this in mind, it's time to head to the Savage Divide and embrace your new Ghoul form to wreak havoc in the world of *Fallout 76*.

*Fallout 76 is available now on PlayStation, Xbox, and PC.*
