How Does Varesa’s Playstyle Compare to Xiao’s in Genshin Impact?

Varesa’s kit features unique Charged Attacks that propel her into the air, enabling Plunging Attacks while generating Nightsoul Points. As a Natlan character, her Charged Attacks are key to building Nightsoul Points, which are central to her playstyle.

Her Elemental Skill, Riding the Night-Rainbow, transforms Varesa into a luchador-inspired persona, charging forward to deal Electro DMG. Afterward, her Normal Attacks convert to stamina-free Plunging Attacks, echoing Xiao’s style, especially during his Elemental Burst, Bane of All Evil, which boosts his jumping ability for continuous Plunging Attacks.

With enough Plunging Attacks, Varesa can enter a masked luchador state called Fiery Passion when her Nightsoul Meter is full, enhancing her attacks and Burst. This makes Plunging Attacks a cornerstone of her gameplay.

However, note that Xianyun’s banner runs alongside Varesa’s in Genshin Impact 5.5 (Phase I). Xianyun is a top-tier support for Plunging Attack-focused characters like Xiao. If you already own Xiao and lack Xianyun, she might be the better pull. Otherwise, Varesa offers a fresh yet familiar experience.
