Game Freak Unveils Leaked Pokémon Champions Multiplayer Game

By EllieApr 25,2025

After months of swirling rumors and leaks, we've finally been treated to our inaugural glimpse of Pokémon Champions, an exciting new multiplayer battle-centric Pokémon game. This title emerges from a collaboration between Game Freak and The Pokémon Works, a fresh joint venture formed by The Pokémon Company and ILCA, the developers behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl.

PlayPokémon Champions dives deep into the heart of the series with its "core-style battles," enabling players to engage in thrilling online competitions. The trailer showcased both Mega Evolution and Terastalization, hinting at an inclusive approach that will embrace various types and historical elements of Pokémon battles.

In a move that will delight fans, Pokémon Champions integrates seamlessly with Pokémon Home. This connectivity empowers players to transfer Pokémon from other games into Champions, breathing new life into the countless Pokémon that have been languishing in boxes from previous generations.

Currently in development for both Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms, Pokémon Champions has yet to announce a release date. However, it promises to be accessible in Latin American Spanish at launch, alongside other languages previously featured in Pokémon titles.

Interestingly, Pokémon Champions appears to be the evolved form of what was initially leaked as Pokémon Synapse. This leak was part of the infamous "Freak Leak" last year, which exposed a treasure trove of internal Game Freak data, including unreleased projects and developmental insights. Early descriptions pegged Pokémon Synapse as a multiplayer game, with some drawing parallels to Splatoon, though those comparisons now seem slightly misaligned.
