MercurySteam, the Spanish studio behind acclaimed titles like Castlevania: Lords of Shadow and Metroid Dread, has lifted the veil on their next ambitious project: Blades of Fire, an action-RPG. Partnering with 505 Games, this dark fantasy adventure plunges players into a world teeming with enigmatic races and terrifying creatures.
The debut trailer offers a glimpse into the fast-paced, hack-and-slash combat, showcasing a distinctive visual style and a darkly atmospheric setting. Fans of Lords of Shadow will recognize similarities in both gameplay and artistic design, while the environments and enemy designs clearly draw inspiration from Darksiders. Intriguingly, the trailer also features a mechanical bird, hinting at a traversal mechanic the protagonist will likely utilize to explore the game world.
Developed using MercurySteam's proprietary Mercury Engine, Blades of Fire aims to sidestep the optimization challenges that often plague modern titles built on Unreal Engine 5.
