Final Fantasy XVI director, Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P), has politely requested fans to avoid creating or installing "offensive or inappropriate" modifications for the game's upcoming PC release.
Final Fantasy XVI's PC Launch: September 17th
Yoshi-P's Plea for Respectful Mods
In a recent interview with PC Gamer, Yoshi-P addressed the modding community, urging them to maintain a standard of decency. While acknowledging the potential for creative and humorous mods, he stressed the importance of avoiding anything deemed offensive or inappropriate. He cleverly sidestepped suggestions for specific mod ideas to prevent unintended encouragement.
"We don't want to see anything offensive or inappropriate," Yoshida stated. "Please don't make or install anything like that."
Yoshi-P's experience with previous Final Fantasy titles likely exposed him to a range of mods, some falling outside the bounds of acceptability. Modding communities, such as Nexusmods and Steam Workshop, host a vast array of content, from graphical enhancements to cosmetic overhauls. However, the existence of NSFW and other potentially offensive mods necessitates this request. While Yoshi-P didn't offer specifics, it's clear that such mods are precisely what he wants to prevent. Examples include mods offering explicit content replacements for characters.
Final Fantasy XVI's PC release boasts enhanced features like a 240fps frame rate cap and advanced upscaling technologies. Yoshi-P's request simply aims to ensure the community maintains a respectful environment while enjoying these improvements.
