Feral Interactive Releases Imperium Update for ROME: Total War

ROME: Total War enthusiasts on Android are in for a treat with the latest free Imperium Update released by Feral Interactive. This substantial update, which has already landed on Android devices, brings a host of gameplay tweaks, enhanced controls, and quality-of-life improvements to this classic strategy game that debuted on the platform back in 2018. Fans of the standalone expansions, Barbarian Invasion and Alexander, can also look forward to these updates rolling out next week.

What Does the Imperium Update Bring to ROME: Total War?

The Imperium Update enriches ROME: Total War by integrating some of the most acclaimed features from Feral's newer mobile titles, such as Total War: MEDIEVAL II and EMPIRE. Players can now enjoy three new control options: Positioning Mode, Melee Mode, and Automatic Deselection, each designed to enhance unit command and precision in battles. With these new modes, you can easily maneuver your army, agents, or fleets by simply tapping and holding, eliminating the need for manual path-dragging.

Positioning Mode allows for meticulous unit placement through tap-and-hold actions, while the Group Grid feature simplifies unit group management with a user-friendly, collapsible selection menu. Melee Mode is a game-changer, enabling ranged units to switch to close combat seamlessly when the situation demands it.

A significant enhancement introduced by the update is the Command Slowdown feature, which automatically slows down the gameplay when you're issuing complex orders, making it easier to manage intricate battle scenarios. For the first time, keyboard and mouse support has been added for Android (and iPad) users, providing a more familiar and precise control option.

The minimap has also undergone a redesign, drawing inspiration from MEDIEVAL II, and now offers smoother zooming and navigation. A convenient reset button allows players to quickly return to the default view, enhancing the overall user experience.

The Imperium Update is currently available for download on the Google Play Store for those who own ROME: Total War on Android. Keep an eye out for the updates coming to Barbarian Invasion and Alexander next week, ensuring that your entire ROME: Total War experience on Android is up to date and optimized.
